A play-based curriculum focuses on active, hands-on learning through meaningful play. Learning centers are arranged throughout the classroom to support different areas of development, such as dramatic play (dress-up and kitchen), blocks and construction, art and creative expression, sensory exploration with materials like sand, water, and playdough, science and discovery, literacy through books and writing materials, and math using manipulatives. The curriculum includes multiple types of play, such as free play led by children, guided play shaped by teacher goals, sensory play using textures, sounds, and smells, and outdoor play that encourages large-motor growth and nature exploration. Lessons are supported through theme-based units that follow children’s interests—like animals, seasons, or community helpers—while integrating literacy, math, science, and art skills. Each day also includes group learning time, such as circle time for songs, stories, conversations, and social interaction.
